President's Message

ere we are headed right through spring towards summer at breakneck speed! Just seems like yesterday I was hoping for good weather for antenna work Now a month has passed, and only the lawn has been mowed.  I'm still trying for the antennas!

Activities coming our way in this month and next include a new ham event on Sunday, May 23, 2004 in Albany, OR. Starts at noon with a Chili cook-off! Details on the www.nwhams.com website. That sounds like fun!

We were going to have a program on the 1980 Mt. St. Helens eruption this month, but Murphy intervened.  We will probably have this program at our July meeting, instead.  In its place is a presentation on competitive Radio Direction Finding, a summer activity that is gaining popularity

As a preview of June's activities we have SeaPac scheduled for June 18- 20, 2004. Information and a registration form to download is available on www.seapac.org/print_registration.htm. The following weekend culminates June's activities with Field Day weekend, June 26 and 27 with setup on Fri-day, June 25. Highlight of the weekend is the no host dinner with Lea's Black Death Chili  leading the way! We are planning on having our club meeting on the 25th after setup to present the nominees for next year's Board and vote. Our nominating committee consists of Bruce McCain, N7XB, Lea Ball, AL7W, and John White, K7RUN. We will need candidates for Vice President, One-year Director, Recording Secretary, and any other office that you might be interested in holding. Let the committee know. Don't be afraid to step up and nominate yourself either. See you at the meeting!
